New Step Down Transformer designs are used in the high voltage transmission systems to act as intermediate devices, lowering extreme voltages to more moderate, but still high levels. Substations are one example of where one can find these. New Step Down Transformers are also found the distribution portion of the system where the voltages are being reduced so as to route energy into commercial and residential structures. Finally, a New Step Down Transformer is often found in lower voltage situations in which it is adjusting voltages to fit local needs for specific equipment and for normal industrial or home use. One can even find very low voltage applications that are serviced by a New Step Down Transformer. Often, where voltages are not being reduced in large increments, or the voltages are very low to begin with, such transformers will be a specialized version known as a Buck Boost Transformer. The smaller the voltages involved; the more likely to find a New Step Down Transformer that is "off-the-shelf." Generally, the larger the voltages in question; the more likely it is that a custom-ordered transformer will have to be supplied. But since there are so many different and expanding areas of use for electrical power, one can often find even low voltage applications so distinct that they will need a specially built New Step Down Transformer.
